Next year my friend (Sam Atter) and me (Hayden Stobbs) want to do something challenging for our 30th birthdays by pushing ourselves to the absolute limit. For the past year, we have been training to complete a 1000 mile cycling tour from Hiroshima to Tokyo in March 2020. As we only have 10 months to go, we thought this was the perfect time to try and raise some money for charity. To test ourselves before our trip to Japan, we will also be completing a smaller 250+ mile segment in the the lake district later this year. If for some reason this turns out to be too difficult for us, then we will adjust the mileage in Japan as necessary. The aim is to complete the challenge over 30 days so to do this, we are going to cycle 50 miles per day, 5 days a week, and spend the weekends resting. We will be recording as much footage as possible, with live blogs wherever we are able to do so. We will be starting from Hiroshima taking winding routes over various smaller islands and mountains before heading back to the mainland towards Tokyo. There is still a lot of planning to do! As of March 1st 2019 our training regime has began to ramp up! I (Hayden) will personally be putting in 1-2 hours per day on Zwift, with the aim to be out on the bike every other weekend for 6-8 hours. The charity we have chosen to raise money for is Cancer Research UK. Whether we like it or not Cancer touches all of our lives, so we thought we'd try and make a positive impact and help those in need a long the way. Many thanks! In May 2020 I’ll be traveling to Colombia with WaterAid, an international organization dedicated to bringing clean water, toilets and hygiene assistance to the poorest and most marginalized communities across the globe. After several days trekking to the ancient, Lost City of Tayrona, I’ll be visiting and volunteering with WaterAid in indigenous, Wayuu communities in La Guajira, Colombia. The Indigenous Wayúu live in dispersed rural and marginalized communities with very limited access to services, where only 16% has access to water and a mere 4% to basic sanitation. Currently, it is estimated that 60% of the Wayúu population suffer from malnutrition and roughly one indigenous child under 5 has died of causes linked to malnutrition every week over the past 2 years. WaterAid is working to change this, and with your help, I’ll be making a real difference in the lives of many on my trip with WaterAid. I am running in the TCS 10k run 🏃‍♂ in Bangalore on May 19th to raise funds for Isha Vidhya. I have been raising funds for almost three years now. The process of donation is very transparent. Isha Vidhya regularly sends out performance reports of the child you are linked with and also success stories of the children in various competitions. It has been a beautiful experience. ☺ Isha Vidhya schools provide high quality education in English medium. The focus is on holistic development of the child – Yoga, sports, arts, crafts, environmental awareness, are all part of the curriculum. These children belong to the poorest segment of society where they are typically the first generation in their families that is receiving education. On May 3rd Cyclone Fani, the strongest storm to hit India in 20 years, made landfall in eastern India. The storm has impacted over 1.2 million people in India who were evacuated from low-lying areas. We invite you to join us in supporting the Cyclone Fani Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can help provide short-term and long-term response and recovery to multiple organization initiatives. Our Fund approach is informed by expert and local recommendations, based on up to date information from disaster philanthropy and nongovernmental organization networks. The Fund's strategy is similarly dynamic and responsive: as information on local communities needs becomes available, we will update the organizations in this Fund, directing donations towards specific organizations doing work in the areas most affected. Leones Naranjas is a non-profit Civil Association, which was born as a sports project and which has now been transformed into a social inclusion project through sports, with education being one of our main objectives. We want our children out of the street to prevent risk behaviors (such as drug, bullying, anxiety, eating disorders, intra-family violence, gender violence, etc), and we want our childrens to be able to finish their preparation studies (elementary, secondary and high school), in order to give them the opportunity to access to university studies (degree studies). Very ambitious objective, taking into consideration the socio-economic reality that most of our players' families live today. But we will work tirelessly to achieve this goal, above any sporting goal.

We’ve known for a long time that the balance of nature has been disrupted. This disruption has resulted in the greatest rate of extinction since the loss of dinosaurs more than 60 million years ago.
